If there’s one thing that’s likely to capture fashion afficionados’ attention, it’s designer collaborations with retail giants. The latest one to get tongues wagging is the partnering up of Target, the US retail chain, and Joseph Altuzarra. Target already has a history of collaborations, having produced collections with the likes of Phillip Lim and Missoni in the past.
The collection, which comprises almost 50 pieces, is not only being sold through Target; a large selection of the garments, lingerie, accessories and shoes will also be stocked online at Net-A-Porter. Target and Net-A-Porter had joint forces previously for Target’s range produced with Peter Pilotto. The fact that they are coming together once again means that Target is thus able to reach beyond the US market, bringing the New York designer’s elegant pieces to an international customer base.
And if Joesph Altuzarra's sneak-peak sketches and teaser video are anything to go by, the collection promises to be oozing with luxury and sophistication but with prices starting as low as $17.99. As the designer said: “I’ve admired the elegance that Target brings to fast fashion.” This is a further example of the popularity of high-fashion designer labels collaborating with high-street retailers in order to create affordable capsule collections, without forsaking the designer’s signature style.
The collection will be available in Target stores as well as at target.com and net-a-porter.com from 14th September.
