Ever wondered what your favourite perfume would taste like as a drink? The Ritz-Carlton Berlin is offering you the possibility to experience just that. Iconic perfumes such as Acqua di Goia by Armani and Hypnôse by Lancôme are being transformed into cocktails at the prestigious hotel’s new bar called “Fragrances”.
Mixologist Arnd Heissen, who has been bar manager at the Ritz Carlton’s Curtain Club since 2011, is the man behind Fragrances. You can expect to find drinks based on perfumes by L’Artisan Parfumeur, Annick Goutal and Guerlain on the menu, with a total of 15 cocktails. Yves Saint Laurent’s La Nuit de L’Homme, for example, is a drink that combines lavender infused Tanqueray 10 with rhododendron sake, fresh lemon and a vanilla-vetiver-patchouli-grapefruit-eucalyptus-syrup.

In order to determine your drink choice, you’ll be able to smell the different fragrances which are all displayed at the entrance in the form of a visual menu. Talking about the Fragrances concept, Heissen explains: “I want to surprise guests and introduce them to completely unexpected experiences. Through my creations I want to paint pictures in people’s minds and free their imagination.”
Fragrances is an exciting new luxury experience for perfume and cocktail lovers alike. In Heissen own words, the bar is an “aromatic wonderland” an olfactory and flavoursome escape.
The bar is open Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm, and cocktails are priced at €14.
