As Rei Kawakubo’s multi-brand store, Dover Street Market, turns 10, it gets ready to launch into a month’s worth of celebrations for the month of September. Before that, however, it will be welcoming luxury label Louis Vuitton in the form of a pop-up that is to last throughout the Autumn.
Tomorrow will see the launch of a selection of Louis Vuitton’s highly anticipated Autumn-Winter 2014 collection. The Louis Vuitton pop-up will feature pieces from the first collection by new artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière, who was previously at Balenciaga. The edit is also to include accessories with shoes, sunglasses and jewellery. Louis Vuitton will be making an appearance at Dover Street Market’s HQ in London, but also at the Tokyo store and the recently opened New York branch. In addition to these pop-ups, Louis Vuitton will take over the London store's window with a display to coincide with London Fashion Week. Its certainly not first time Dover Street Market and Louis Vuitton have worked together as they already have previously collaborated a number of times.
Dover Street Market has a mixed offering of emerging designers, streetwear labels and established luxury brands. Louis Vuitton can therefore expect to see its pop-up rub shoulders with the likes of Prada, Saint Laurent Paris as well as young designers such as Phoebe English or streetwear brands such as Supreme.
If you can’t make it down to the store itself, keep an eye out for Dover Street Market’s new Instagram profile (one way the store has chosen to celebrate its 10 years), and marking the company’s first steps into the world of social media. We fully expect it to adhere to the store’s philosophy of “beautiful chaos”.
The Louis Vuitton pop-up will be running from 15th August until mid-October.
