The Festivale de Cannes has got a new partner: luxury conglomerate, Kering, has signed an agreement to become an official partner of the famous film festival. The partnership will be effective from the 68th edition, which runs from the 13th to the 24th May 2015, and will last for five years. With the exception of jewellery brands, this will be opportunity for Kering to promote most of the luxury labels in its portfolio, including Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Sergio Rossi.

This partnership will also enable Kering to put a focus on women in cinema. The promotion of women’s rights is a priority for the company and has worked on initiatives such as the Kering Foundation, set up to fight violence against women. Commenting on the union, General Delegate of Cannes International Film Festival Thierry Frémaux, said: “Together, we are strengthening the reputation of the Cannes International Film Festival on the international stage, towards artists, the media and professionals of the industry. We are enabling the Festival to evolve in line with the changes in society, thus remaining at the forefront of international film festivals worldwide.”
With this deal, Kering thereby joins ranks with jewellery brand Chopard. An official partner since 1998, Chopard not only redesigned the Palme D’Or but also manufactures the gold trophy in its ateliers every year. Kering’s presence at the festival will undoubtedly add another dose of luxury to the prestigious event.
