Dressed to the Nines: a night at The Oscars← Back

Even though everyone might be lamenting the fact that it’s Monday, this week there is at least the Oscars’ news to brighten the day. As one of the biggest nights of the year in the world of cinema, the winners of the 87th Academy Awards are inevitably the talk of the town, not to mention the red carpet looks which are also under heavy scrutiny.
One of the best dressed, was possibly actress Lupita Nyong’o who opted for a tasteful Calvin Klein dress. Custom-made, the ivory backless gown shimmered with beaded detailing. Besides getting it perfectly right with her dress, the actress was also presenter at the Awards Ceremony.
The Best Picture Award went to Birdman, with all eyes on lead actress Emma Stone as she appeared on the red carpet in a dazzling Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. The chartreuse colour may have been a daring choice, but it suited the 26 year-old down to the ground.
Rosamund Pike, who had been nominated for her leading role in Gone Girl looked stunning in a Givenchy couture gown. The actress may have recently given birth to her son, but that didn’t stop her from stepping out in a figure-hugging dress showing off her body.
When it comes to the red carpet, the main focus might be on the gowns…but let’s not forget the men in all of this. Not only did Eddie Redmayne take home the Oscar for Best Actor for his leading role in the The Theory of Everything, but he also managed to look dapper on the red carpet, dressed head to toe in Alexander McQueen.
Whilst a huge congratulations may be in order for all the Award winners, our praise goes to the beautiful custom made outfits that were to be seen on the red carpet.
