One of the UK’s biggest shopping centre groups, Westfield, is working on developing its luxury retail offering, according to an article published this morning on Drapers. The Westfield Group has announced that it is using a multimillion-pound investment to develop its luxury division, which is known as The Village, at the Shepherd’s Bush branch in London.
The Shepherd’s Bush shopping centre was opened in 2008, and The Village, which is included within it, currently encompasses a selection of over 40 luxury brands. These range from Italian fashion labels such as Prada and Salvatore Ferragamo, to footwear brands such as Jimmy Choo and jewellery by the likes of De Beers.
This investment will see Westfield acquire new luxury retailers as well as enabling current labels at The Village to expand. Amongst others, luxury Italian fashion label Versace is to increase its presence at Westfield, with the addition of two stores at The Village.
The Village, which currently offers services for luxury shoppers such as a concierge, valet parking or handsfree shopping, has also recently launched the Fashion Lounge, a suite where customers are offered personal styling services, as part of the development.
This announcement comes at a time when the UK’s luxury retail market is doing well – only in December last year retail research agency Conlumino predicted that the UK is to become Europe’s largest luxury goods retail market by 2018.
Westfield’s latest investement project is to continue throughout the rest of 2015 as the group works on growing its luxury retail experience.
