Last week crowds gathered to celebrate the opening of the new Aquazzura store in London.
For his first store outside of Italy, where Aquazzura is based, Edgardo Osorio, founder and creative director of the label, has turned his attention to London: the new store is located on Albemarle Street, in Mayfair. This marks the designer’s second stand-alone store, his flagship being situated in Florence along with the brand’s HQ.
Born in Columbia, Edgardo Osorio studied at London College of Fashion before going on to make a name for himself in the footwear industry. Following stints at some of the world’s most renowned high-end fashion houses including Salvatore Ferragamo and Roberto Cavalli, Osorio founded Aquazzura in 2011. In the few years since it’s inception, the luxury footwear label has quickly gone on to be a firm favourite amongst women: so much so that stockists have repeatedly sold out of bestseller styles such as the popular Sexy Thing.
As well as opening the new store, Edgardo Osario has strengthened his relationship with London by collaborating with British model Poppy Delevingne. The opening of the new store was also the perfect opportunity for the designer and model to celebrate the collaboration, in the form of an intimate dinner. The capsule collection, consisting of nine styles, will launch this December.
2015 will have been an exciting year for Aquazzura it seems, as both these projects contribute to the labels rapid growth on a global scale.
