The Yoox Net-a-Porter Group – also known as YNAP - has announced that Eva Chen and Vittorio Radice will be joining the company: as independent directors, Chen and Radice will be a part of a board that consists of 11 seats in total. Both will bring their expertise from their respective fields in the luxury retail, fashion and consumer goods industries.

Eva Chen who was formerly Editor-in-Chief at Lucky magazine, is known for her social media success having amassed a significant 507k followers on Instagram. She currently works for Facebook as Instagram’s Head of Fashion Partnerships: a role that she obtained in July this year, announcing the appointment via Instagram.

In a statement Federico Marchetti, Yoox Net-A-Porter Group CEO, said of Chen: "She is one of the industry's most connected and innovative voices and brings a fresh, youthful perspective together with exceptional expertise at the convergence of social commerce and fashion.” This hire of a popular social media figure will inevitably help Net-a-Porter make deeper forays into the US market, which is currently one of its largest markets.
Meanwhile retail expert Radice, who’s CV includes stints at Selfridges and M&S, is currently orchestrating the turn-around of la La Rinascente, an Italian department store (where he holds the title of vice chairman).
YNAP is currently going through a period of transition: the recruitment of these new board members comes shortly after the completion of the merger between global e-commerce platforms Yoox and Net-a-Porter. It also coincides with a major change at the head of the company , since Alison Lœhnis was promoted to president in October, after the departure of Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet.
As YNAP finds it feet, it’ll be interesting to see how the input of these two industry experts will help carry the newly merged company forward.
