This month, fashion website Not Just a Label is to get a physical store, in the form of a pop-up at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.
Not Just a Label is a digital platform for independent designers, which helps gain them exposure on a global level. Founded in 2008 by CEO Stefan Siegel, in an attempt to battle fast fashion, NJAL focuses on designers that produce high-quality, luxury collections using artisanal production methods.  The site currently represents designers from over 110 countries across the world.
The NOT JUST A LABEL | Made in NY pop-up came about through a partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation and New York mayor, Bill De Blasio, as part of his initiative to support local talent. The aim is to promote New York designers and the local fashion industry and a total of 100 designers and brands from New York’s five boroughs were selected to take part: the pop-up will feature some 400 designs (from menswear and womenswear, through to accessories and jewellery) all produced in the area.
As well as its retail aspect, the NOT JUST A LABEL | Made in NY event will also consist of workshops and talks, in order to highlight and bring about discussions on the city’s fashion industry.
Talking about the pop-up, Siegel said: “NOT JUST A LABEL | Made in NY gives even the youngest New York designers an opportunity to realize the dream of showcasing their collections to this incredibly influential city.”
Just in time for Christmas, this pop-up will give shoppers the opportunity to step away from mainstream and gift unique luxury fashion designs by New York's emerging creatives.
NOT JUST A LABEL | Made in NY will run from the 4th until the 13th December, 11am-9pm, at the Waldorf Astoria New York, 301 Park Avenue.
