As the technology and fashion industries gradually become closer with advancements in the field of wearable technology, companies like Ringly are the names that are standing at the forefront of innovation. Indeed, the label has just unveiled a new collection of smart jewellery called ‘Aries’.
Ringly’s new collection of bracelets follows on after the successful collection of rings that combine functionality and style. By creating smart jewellery for women, Ringly aims to make technology discreet so that users don’t always have to have their phone in sight: these new bracelets not only alert users (either by lighting up or by vibrating, depending on preference) when they receive notifications, but they also have the added bonus of step tracking.
In order to offer maximum versatility in terms of style, consumers can choose from a range of semi-precious stones: labradorite,
rainbow moonstone, tourmalated quartz and
lapis. The 18 carat gold-plated bracelet is also available in two different sizes.
However as a piece of smart jewellery, it’s not just looks that count: the battery is said to last from one to two days depending on level of usage and there are five notification colours to the LED light. The bracelets are compatible with over hundred apps, from messaging service Whatsapp to transport app Uber.
Customers wanting to get their hands on the new pieces of wearable tech will have to be patient for the time being as Ringly’s bracelets will only be available later this year. Currently available for pre-order at the price of $195, the first 1000 customers will receive a bracelet with a real diamond where the LED light shines for an added touch of luxury.
New products like this prove that technology can be incorporated into fashion, without compromising on style. It may still be a relatively niche market, but it’s one that is growing at a fast pace.
