Director of Operations Full-time

Overview:

Responsible for the complete supply chain to include the design and execution of the operations plan and budget to ensure the company meets the overall business plan. The person in this role is as well responsible for all aspects of talent management for operations nationally.

Responsible for the overall performance of National Distribution Center, including warehouse operations, Health and Safety Executive, Safety and DOT regulations, logistics, inventory management, receiving, shipping, material handlers, drivers, promotional support, and transportation. The Manager will plan; organize staff, and direct related functions and activities within the DC.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership and motivation to direct and indirect reports within the Operations Team. They will lead, develop and coach the team to support business objectives and key strategic initiatives. Provide strong leadership to motivate both individual and team performance and productivity.
• Develop the operations budget, monitor and report on a monthly basis to the executive and the team.
• With the Executive and sales team plan for future capacity and growth of the supply chain
• Proactively monitor and manage all inbound/ outbound material.
• Inventory Management: including but not limited to performing regular cycle counts and monitoring physical inventory.
• Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of operation departments in the organization.
• Research and develop new techniques and procedures to increase efficiency and safety in operations.
• Responsible for the full supply chain to include planning, warehousing, logistics and transportation.
• Recruit, develop, coach and manage the operations team leads across the country.
• Monitor, measure, review and report on the financial expectations and results. Utilize financial and operational data to improve profitability and to control costs.
• Improve processes, systems and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor compliance to rules, regulations and procedures.
• Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments and business partners involved in warehousing, pricing and distribution of goods.
• Collect, analyze and report productivity data and manage inventory
• Source, negotiate and execute all relevant contacts and pricing with third party providers.
• Sign off and approval of all operations expenditures.
• Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts and Finance. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.
• All SOX compliance for operations
• Lead and supervise the construction and fit-out of the warehouse in accordance with company specifications.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

• 8 or more years of management experience in all facets of inbound/outbound transportation, preferably in the building materials industry.
• 2 or more years of experience and working with material handling systems.
• Demonstrable experience and management of inventory and inventory controls systems.
• Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
• MRP (Oracle) knowledge preferred
• Ability to manage multiple inputs – channels/products.
• Excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
• Entrepreneurial team player who can multi-task.
• High degree of business acumen.
• Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
• Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented.
• Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.

• Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
• Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management.
• Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
• Lean methodologies and Six Sigma.

Working Conditions
