Commercial Director - Ecommerce Full-time

The Role

Our client is currently hiring a Commercial Director. This is a ‘first person on the ground’ role. You are responsible for building the UK operation from the ground up. You have the necessary leadership and operational experience to successfully launch and scale this operation. This job is a unique opportunity to become a key player in one of the most exciting growth stories in the vertical ecommerce space.

Key Responsibilities:

Design the strategy for UK entry, launch and growth and lead execution across operations, logistics and marketing.
Establish the company as a legal entity and open a UK office.
Establish end to end supply chain legalities and logistics, from shipping partners through to legal compliance.
Establish a fulfilment centre partnership
Set up a customer service operation.
Select and manage a local PR agency.
Establish effective partnerships with third parties including suppliers, media and vendors.
Co-ordinate the marketing strategy and delivery using in-house teams and/or 3rd party managed service providers.
Plan headcount in line with growth, hire team and partner cross-functionally to resource appropriately
Understand and feedback on the specific requirements of the UK market with regard to physical product and website.
Establish efficient reporting and lines of communication with senior management and supporting teams internationally.
Occasional travel to the US and Europe
Full P&L responsibility for the UK business
The Perfect Candidate

Understanding of how to grow a business: you have managed a company, region, business unit or office previously, you understand the challenges of scaling up, and you have a proven track record of success.
10+ years work experience with at least 4 in ecommerce.
A good knowledge of b2c performance marketing channels at scale, such as Paid Search, Facebook and Display.
Evidence of “scrappy start-up execution” and leading teams of junior and senior staff in day-to-day implementation activities.
A natural and charismatic leader with strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Experience in scaling and managing cross-functional teams.
A successful track record of leadership and the ability to attract, develop and retain world-class talent.
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, & planning skills
Collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with amazing attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
